WHAT IS SMP?

Scalp micropigemntation (SMP) is a none invasive hair treatment.

This is for cosmetic purposes only and will not help with hair growth.

It is designed to replicate a full head of hair follicles. This can create the look of a full head of shaven hair or create density in thinking areas. We do this by carefully placing thousands of pigment deposits over the course  of 3-4 treatments with 2 week gaps in between each treatment. This helps bring back a natural look for a restored hairline and confidence where thinning occurs naturally.

We can also cover any hair transplant scars meaning you have your full confidence from surgery also.

Different types of smp:

Full shaven look -

Usually men thin and bald as a genetic occurrence, this can be seen with receding parts at the hairline and front of the head. Also the crown is typically affected with age which results in a bald patch.

As this happens we can succefully create a full head of hair follicles using our smp tattooing treatment. Hairline restoration means we create your natural hair line using the muscles above the eyebrows. This means the hairline created with smp will be tailored to your original hairline and the most natural way to get that look back.

We deposit thousands of ink dots which means you will have a full head of coverage at the end of your treatments.

Thinning:

For men and women SMP can be used to cover any thinning areas. Hair can become sparse for a number of reasons whether it be genetics, male pattern baldness, alopecia or changes in medication. Thinning can also occur in women from cosmetic hair treatments such as extensions and also hormonal changes, such as menopause and pregnancy. However this can be easily camouflaged with SMP. This is a lot different to the typical shaven head scalp micropigmentation as your hair will still have length and you do not want to have any areas shaved just density added to what is already there. This works as we deposit the ink dots to camaflouge the pale scalp which hides the contract between the scalp and the hair making it a lot less obvious, creating the appearance of thicker hair in the desired section. In women we see it working best to disretely cover any thinning areas around the face meaning you can wear your hair up with no insecurities. We use the density SMP if you are a suitable candidate, this means your hair hasn’t been rapidly thinning and you don’t have signs of going completely bald, if so we would recommend the shaven SMP look.

If your wanting to figure out what will be best for your personal situation we recommend a consultation where we can discuss all options.

FAQS

Can women have SMP?

Of course! It is extremely popular with women as we get gradual thinning at the sides of our scalp due to wearing our hair up all the time and the weight of the hair gradually pulls on the scalp. There’s many reasons why women can have SMP.

Can I have SMP if I’ve had a hair transplant?

Definitely. The number of failed hair transplants is quite high as not everyone’s hair follicles take to the surgery. Even if your hair has taken and healed well we can then go in with a density treatment to finalise the look. We can also cover any scars from the surgery.

Can I have a hair transplant if I’ve had SMP?

You most definitely can after everything is healed well and you still want some hair growth you can have a hair transplant afterwards. SMP does not affect hair growth.

What is the downtime like for SMP?

There is very little downtime to SMP and it does not affect daily life afterwards as long as the correct after care is followed.

Pain?

There is a slight discomfort you can expect like any other tattoo service. However some may say the elation you feel after solving any insecurity’s out weigh the discomfort.

Permanence?

It is a permanent cosmetic treatment that typically lasts forever with the right touch up treatments that can be from 4-6 years after the initial treatments, or as and when you would like. Also depending on how you deal with the aftercare, and avoid sunlight exposure that can cause fading.
